Record year expected for caravan parks as visitors look at staycations due to uncertainty of overseas travel

Caravan parks across England are expecting to record one of their busiest years on record with UK residents opting for staycations due to international travel restrictions.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics recorded a 68.6 rise in the UK’s accommodation and food services sector in April.

It is believed the driving factor in this growth is down to UK residents looking at caravan parks and holiday lets while overseas travel has been uncertain.

Growth was also seen in the retail market for sales of motorhomes and caravans as fed up Brits looked to put lockdown behind them and venture to camping grounds and touring parks.

Speaking to The Guardian, Carolyn Britton, of Seafield caravan park in Northumberland, said they are fully booked until October for holiday guests and have no permanent pitches left to sell.
