Did you know that Terrorism cover is a standard exclusion from all UK insurance policies?
If a terrorist attack was to occur and caused significant damage to your property or business including ongoing disruption, standard insurance policies would not provide cover and you would be faced with any repair bills and ongoing costs.
Following a series of incidents in the 1990s, the government and UK insurers set up the “Pool Re” scheme which responds to terrorism losses. The scheme covers England, Scotland and Wales and provides insurance cover for businesses, property, and consequential business interruption.
More recently a few insurers can now offer a more bespoke Terrorism Insurance policy which is more flexible, allowing customers to only insure parts of the business they feel to be exposed.
