Why have an Engineering Inspection Policy?
It is a legal requirement for regular engineering inspections of lifting and pressurised machinery and equipment in your commercial premises.
An inspection involves a specialist visiting your premises to assess the necessary machinery and equipment and provide a safety report.
The report will confirm which equipment or machinery meets legal safety standards and identifies those that have failed and require action.
You also have a duty to inform employees of any failures and once action has been taken, arrange for further inspection.
Engineering inspection reports are also to be given to any prospective buyers, solicitors, lenders and anyone from the Health & Safety Executive.
Some of the machinery and equipment required for inspection may be:
- Forklifts and other lifting equipment
- Passenger or goods lifts
- Pressurised boiler systems
- Items involving wires, chains, ropes or hydraulics
- Compressors and pressure systems
We also advise our clients to arrange inspections for items that are a non-statutory requirement to ensure all machinery and equipment is at a suitable and safe level.
Engineering Inspection & Insurance
Along with providing inspection services, we can also help create machinery insurance cover to protect your equipment including against consequential damage.
For the majority of engineering companies, machinery is a vital part of the day to day running of the business.
If machinery is damaged, the cost to repair or replace could be expensive. Having equipment covered by your policy will help recoup costs to ensure you can get back up and running.
