Why have an Engineering Inspection Policy?

Engineering inspection insurance is a legal necessity. If your commercial premises use lifting or pressurised equipment, regular engineering inspections are mandatory.

An independent inspection is carried out by a qualified specialist who visits your site to assess the necessary machinery and equipment. They produce a detailed safety report highlighting which items meet legal safety standards and which have failed and require corrective action.

It’s your responsibility to inform employees about any failures and arrange a follow-up inspection once any issues are resolved. Engineering inspection reports are also essential documents for prospective buyers, solicitors, lenders, and the Health & Safety Executive.

Engineering Inspection & Insurance

In addition to providing comprehensive engineering inspection services, we can also create customised plant and machinery insurance policies. This protects valuable equipment, including against consequential damage.

For the majority of engineering companies, machinery is the lifeblood of daily operations. If a key piece of plant and machinery is damaged, the cost of repair or replacement can be significant. With engineering insurance coverage, you can recoup costs and get your business back up and running with minimal disruption.

Some of the machinery and equipment required for inspection may be:

  • Forklifts and other lifting equipment
  • Passenger or goods lifts
  • Pressurised boiler systems
  • Items involving wires, chains, ropes or hydraulics
  • Compressors and pressure systems

We also advise our clients to arrange inspections for items that are a non-statutory requirement to ensure all machinery and equipment is at a suitable and safe level.
